The Housing office has opened its mailbox, rather it’s e-mail box, to suggestions from students in hopes the dialogue will ensure changes students deem necessary, and implement plans the Housing Office sees as important , for Fall ’08.
Housing opened a special e-mail account, housing_ideas@apu.edu, to receive all suggestions from students. This e-mail should enable Housing to gather input from the students who are currently living or hope to be living on campus next school year.
“We want questions, but we don’t have answers yet,” Director of Housing Lanny Cram said.
As of Oct. 20, there were 2,216 students in campus housing. Over 54% of all undergraduate students live in on-campus housing this year and the office’s goal of housing 2,184 students was greatly exceeded.
Crestview added almost 900 available spaces, which will allow the office to return to a standard configuration of two people to a room.
The men and women who were moved to Crestview from Alosta Place this year were each given $50 in Cougar Bucks to compensate for the lack of provided internet. They were notified of the money by a flyer on their front door.
According to the note on the door, the students did in fact receive the money because of the difficulties faced during the summer changes.
Cram hopes students will have input for the Housing Office so that the office can better serve them and their housing needs.
