On Tuesday Nov. 6, around 9 p.m., a car filled with men pulled up in front of Smith hall and began shouting insults out of their windows.

A group of individuals gathered in front of Smith were insulted by the calls and one of them threw a rock at the car. The rock struck a window, breaking it as the vehicle drove away.

The driver from Biola and passengers then returned to the school and went into Adams to file a complaint with Campus Safety. Within minutes, Campus Safety and the Azusa Police Department had officers on the scene.

“We are still investigating on our part and Biola on their’s,” Deputy Chief of Campus Safety Anthony Strickland said.

Freshman Reid Kawakami said the students in the car were calling out foul language at APU students and shouting “Go Biola.”

“The police were called,” Strickland said. “People don’t realize that throwing a rock is considered assault with a deadly weapon.”

Kawakami said the students had been hollering when the person in front of Smith threw a rock at the car.

Corporal Cevellos was on duty as the Night Watch Commander Tuesday, and filed the report.
