Walking around campus, you may have noticed new sign-pole directories. These Disneyland-esque informational helpers were built in order to help visitors, as well as new and preview students, find common on-campus destinations.
There are five signs altogether, four on east campus and one on west campus.
“I think they’re cute, and they add professionalism to the campus,” senior marketing major Marissa Vallotton said.
University Relations and Facilities Management are coming up with new ways to help better direct people amidst all of the changes that go on around campus.
“The other existing directory signs were not being used to their fullest capacity. Some were out of date and some were too low to the ground, so we partnered with University Relations in order to make new updated signs,” Angela Vincent of Facilities Management said.
During the summer months, University Relations contacted Facilities Management, at which point, the production of these new signs became a reality.
“I don’t think they really help, it would be better to have something more visual like on the directories having a symbol showing where you are,” freshman music major Christian Chavez said.
Aesthetically, they may look like something out of a cartoon where each blade is pointing to a different country and stating how many miles it to get to that country, but the sign-poles are here with informational intent.
