FINAL ASB ELECTION RESULTS
President:

Tyler Prieb — 613
Brian Kraft — 580

Vice President:

Jason Richardson — 614
Scott Daley — 575

The Associated Student Body (ASB) has announced the executive board election results for the 2009-2010 year—junior economics major Tyler Prieb was named president and junior marketing major Jason Richardson nabbed vice president.

“When I found out I freaked out because I knew it was going to be a really close race—especially against Brian (Kraft) who is such an incredible guy,” Prieb said.

The presidential race came down to a difference of 33 votes while the vice-presidential seat had a difference of 39.

Starting on Monday, Mar. 2, all current students were able to vote online for their chosen candidates. The candidates must gain at least 51 percent of the popular vote to win. The top two candidates running for ASB president and vice president advanced on to a second round of voting to determine who would represent the student body after no one achieved the necessary percentage after the initial vote.

According to director of communications for ASB Hannah Marrs, a total of 1228 students voted in the executive run-off. Tyler Prieb faced off against Brian Kraft for president while second in command was between Scott Daily and Jason Richardson. Students were able to recast their votes in the run off any time from Thursday, Mar. 5, at 10:20 a.m until Friday, Mar. 6, at 4:00 p.m.

“One of my goals is to make student government more visible to students so they can know more about what ASB is doing and voice their opinions. As vice-president I want there to be more connection with senators so [student desires] can happen,” Richardson said.

Prieb wants to reiterate his deep respect for each candidate who ran and his high hopes for continued dialogue between students about what kind of place APU can be.

“I feel like I was in the right place at the right time. Not that I was an awesome leader but if I was to be a good steward of the opportunities that God has given me—I had to at least give it a shot. I am excited and ready to get to work,” Prieb said.
