How To: Get A Ring By Spring

CHRISTINA DUKE | staff writer

Alright seniors, spring is just around the corner, which means there isn’t much time left to get that ring, or give that ring rather, by graduation. First, you have to snag a keeper.

1. Next time you are on Cougar Walk and you hear a skateboard behind you, instead of stepping out of the way, step directly into his or her path. While you might come away with a few bruises, they will feel bad and have to take you out to coffee to make up for it.

2. Play frisbee on Trinity Lawn. When you accidentally hit the guy or girl that is playing guitar, it gives you a reason to bring up your love for acoustic music.

3. Become an RA. On Walkabout, those 10 days in the wilderness with no showers are a sure way to attract a mate.

4. Every girl loves a guy who can sing. Make cookies for Man Choir and bring them to a rehearsal one Friday. Then talk about your great cooking skills when they thank you.

5. Need a date to Spring Thing guys? At your next study session, let Sinatra be your soundtrack as you casually mention your handy-dandy ballroom skills.

6. Hang out in the library. When a damsel in distress needs to print something, offer up your Cougar Bucks. She will surely be impressed with your financial responsibility.

Once you have found the person of your dreams, you have to seal the deal.

1. Have a movie night with your sweetie where you have already picked out the movies. Then watch The Wedding Planner, 27 Dresses and Father of The Bride.

2. Log on to Facebook and become a fan of your favorite wedding sites like www.WeddingChannel.com and www.TheKnot.com. Surely your honey will see it on a daily visit to your mini-feed.

3. Next time you’re out shopping, drag him with you and make sure to stop outside every bridal store to gush over the beautiful gowns.

4. Show her you’re committed and responsible by buying a goldfish. If it dies before you propose, it’s a good thing they all look the same.

5. Put the wedding march as your ring-tone on your cell. He or she will be sure to pick up on your not-so-subtle hints.

6. Men, keep in mind the “Four C’s” for your special occasion: Cute, Clever, Creative, and Classy. And you thought I was going to say Cut, Clarity, Color, and Carat!

Now that you have set the date, good luck and happy planning!”
