Loving The Laughs

Good times at Ice House comedy club

The Ice House in Pasadena makes a great Thursday night out.

I recently acquired an internship with ComedyJuice, a company that, among other things, produces live stand-up comedy throughout Southern California.

Part of my internship includes marketing for Thursday night shows at The Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena. Shortly after my internship began, I realized that I have the privilege of marketing a great show.

While The Ice House offers many other shows throughout the week, Thursday night shows cater specifically to college students.

Each week at 10 p.m., ComedyJuice hosts a live show with great comics from the west coast to a lively crowd.

Most performers have television credits and years of experience.

The comics range in personality, style, gender and socioeconomic backgrounds. Their routines include everything from improvisation, impressions, one-line jokes, to musical presentations.

The low cost and nearby location of The Ice House makes it a perfect location for APU students looking for fun on a Thursday night.

College students on a budget will love to know the cost is much cheaper than other Hollywood-based comedy clubs, which can range from $20 to $40 per ticket.

Thursday shows at The Ice House cost $14, but students can email ComedyJuice in advance and receive free tickets.

Like other comedy clubs, The Ice House requires a two beverage minimum purchase per person, but the menu also provides options for non-alcoholic drinks and great food.

The Ice House is slightly smaller than other clubs, but the size allows for great views for every audience member and increases interaction with the comedians.

The shows are always funny, but from my experience, they tend to start about 15 minutes late, ending at about 12:15 a.m. Those with an early class on Friday morning may want to reconsider.

If you want to have a great laugh but do not want to drive to Hollywood, or pay the high prices, The Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena is a great place to enjoy a night out with friends.
